The nostalgia of home photos

Something i really wanted when my girls were little was photos of the everyday magic. The sweet golden syrup crumpets eaten standing on a chair at the kitchen bench on a cold August morning, The soaked 2 year old eating fresh cherry tomatoes as i water the garden at twighlight. all the sweet everyday moments. There’s something beautiful about having photographs of your family in and around your home.

Not just the big moments. The ordinary ones too.

Because one day, your children may not remember the exact birthday, Christmas or family holiday — but they might remember the sun coming through the stained glass door, the old worn in couch where many cuddles and were had, The dog that slept beside the fireplace. The garden they played in. The way Mum dress, stand, laugh. these are the moment we treasure when we look back.

The things we barely notice now can become the things they feel most nostalgic about later.

And there is something incredibly powerful about a child growing up surrounded by photographs of themselves.

They see proof that they belonged. That they were loved. That their little life was important enough to be remembered.

One day, they may look back at those photographs and see things we don't see now. They’ll see how young you were. How much they’ve grown. The people who were there. The home they once knew.

They won't see the messy house or the outfit you didn't feel great in.

They'll see home.

So don't wait for everything to be perfect.

Book a shoot to capture your ordinary.

Because one day, ordinary will be exactly what they wish they could have back.
